Sam
Sotha, author of In the Shade of A Quiet Killing Place,
will give a talk at Siam Society on Saturday, 14
July 2007, at 10:30am.

Mr.
Sotha will talk about his and his wife’s struggle for survival
during the four years of captivity under the genocidal Pol
Pot regime, his dedication to help fellow refugees ever
since they crossed the border to Thailand in 1979, and his
current mission to make Cambodia free of landmines at the
Siam Society.

Author's
Background
Mr.
Sam Sotha and his wife Sony resettled in the United
States in 1982, where they raised two children. Sam became
a leading advocate for refugees and an active political
leader in the US. The couple returned to work in Cambodia
in 1995. Sam has since served as Secretary-General of Cambodian
Mine Action Authority. He also serves as advisor to the
prime minister of Cambodia.
